The Maumoon Foundation has formally presented copies of the book "Hajjaai Umra Vumugai Kiyaa Baeh Dua, translating to Supplications for Hajj and Umrah, authored by former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom, to the Islamic Ministry for distribution among Maldivian pilgrims undertaking Hajj this year.
The donation was officially handed over to the Ministry by President Maumoon’s son, Faris Maumoon.
The book, compiled by Maumoon, contains key supplications derived from the Sunnah for Hajj and Umrah, systematically arranged to ensure clarity and ease of recitation for Maldivian readers. The Ministry has stated that each Maldivian pilgrim embarking on Hajj this year will receive a copy.
The Ministry emphasized that, as the Hajj pilgrimage entails extended periods devoted to prayer and zikr, the availability of such material in pilgrims’ native language—with clear meanings—will offer considerable convenience and spiritual benefit.
Maumoon is a respected author who has previously produced significant literature on Hajj and Umrah for the Maldivian community. In particular, his work "Ahkaamul Hajj wal Umrah" continues to enjoy widespread recognition and serves as a key reference for many.
The Maumoon Foundation maintains close collaboration with the Islamic Ministry on a range of religious and social initiatives. In January of this year, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Foundation and the Ministry to formalize their partnership in these areas.
Under the terms of this agreement, Maumoon’s publications would be made accessible at the Islamic Centre, alongside the implementation of joint programs aimed at enhancing religious awareness.
The Islamic Ministry is currently finalizing the logistical arrangements to distribute these books to this year’s Hajj pilgrims. While digital applications have been introduced to support pilgrims through modern technology, printed materials remain an essential resource, particularly for elderly individuals and those who may experience difficulty using smartphones.
The Ministry has confirmed that the distribution process will begin during the orientation and awareness sessions conducted for pilgrims prior to their departure.
