Two cruise liners arrived in the Maldivian capital on Sunday, carrying over 2,000 tourists.
Maldives Immigration stated that its seaport division provided enroute immigration clearance services to two cruise liners on Sunday; MS Norwegian Sun and Azamara Onward.
MS Norwegian Sun arrived from Phuket, Thailand, with 1,816 tourists and 902 crew members, while Azamara Onward arrived from Cochin, India, with 583 tourists and 388 crew members.
The two cruise liners together carried 2,399 tourists to the Maldives.
The Maldives recorded 740,364 tourist arrivals of Saturday, marking a 3.2 percent decline compared to the same period this year.
This decline in arrivals is attributed to ongoing travel disruptions due to the conflict in the Middle East, which houses key transit hubs for tourists that travel to the Maldives.
