The National Social Protection Agency (NSPA) disbursed MVR 54 million in financial assistance to people with disabilities in February, according to the agency’s latest monthly statistics.
NSPA said there are 15,280 individuals currently on the national disability register, including 62 new registrations recorded in February.
A total of 14,993 people received disability allowance during the month, a slight increase from 14,975 recipients in January.
The agency disbursed MVR 54,842,000 in disability-related financial assistance in February, compared to MVR 54,639,000 in January.

In addition, NSPA provided MVR 187,500 in assistance to children with disabilities and their caregivers.
The number of parents receiving this support stands at 101, with one new parent registered in February, while 137 children received assistance.
NSPA also issued MVR 26,040 in food assistance during the month.
