Male’ Water and Sewerage Company Limited (MWSC)’s Managing Director Abdulla Matheen has also resigned from his post on Sunday.

Matheen announced his resignation via a social media post. In the post, Matheen stated that he has resigned effective immediately. However, he did not disclose the reason behind his resignation.

Notably, Maldives Industrial Fisheries Company Limited (MIFCO)’s CEO Farushath Shaheer had also resigned earlier today.

Over the past two weeks, the heads of Fenaka Corporation and Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) have resigned from their respective positions. In addition, several changes have been made to senior management roles within Fenaka Corporation and the Housing Development Corporation (HDC).

These abrupt resignations and dismissals of senior officials come shortly after the government faced significant losses in the local council elections and public referendum held on April 4th, symbolizing strong dissent towards the government.
