Villa Gas will increase the price of gas sold to the public starting next Thursday, the company announced on Monday evening.

Villa Hakatha said gas will continue to be sold at current prices until Thursday, after which the new rates will take effect.

At present, a 10‑kilogram cylinder is sold for MVR 200, while a 20‑kilogram cylinder is priced at MVR 350.

From Thursday, the price of a 10‑kilogram cylinder will rise to MVR 350. The 20‑kilogram cylinder will also be sold at MVR 350. The company has not yet disclosed the revised price for the smallest 5‑kilogram cylinder.

Both Maldive Gas and Villa Gas have previously imposed sales limits due to fluctuations in supply. Villa Gas last restricted sales on the 15th of last month.

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu and Economic Minister Mohamed Saeed have recently assured the public that there will be no shortages of fuel, staple foods or essential commodities.

It is also notable that Maldive Gas reduced its gas sales ahead of Ramadan, with deliveries experiencing significant delays.
