In a statement on Thursday, MACL said the development marks a strategic step toward enhancing passenger experience while expanding premium retail services to the southern region of the Maldives.

According to the company, the initiative is aligned with broader national efforts to strengthen regional connectivity, stimulate economic activity, and support tourism growth beyond the greater Male’ area.

The company also expects it to support increased tourist arrivals, enable the expansion of international routes, and create a magnitude of employment opportunities, particularly for Maldivian youth.

MACL states that as part of the operational rollout, selected staff will undergo specialized training with internationally recognized brands to ensure service delivery meets global benchmarks in retail travel.

According to MACL, thus initiative forms part of the wider vision to establish Addu City as an emerging hub within the international travel network, while reinforcing the vision of the Maldivian government on advancing the Maldives’ aviation and tourism sectors through sustainable and future-focused development.
