The government has brought in smaller electric cars designed for narrow roads as part of the new Taxi Line service set to launch on Thursday.

A total of 150 vehicles will be used for the service. The first 60 Deepal S05 cars were delivered on the 24th of this month. These four‑seater vehicles include both front and rear cargo space for luggage.

Sun has learned that the smallest category of vehicles, the Lumin‑size cars, have now also been introduced. Seventy cars will be delivered in this size. These compact three‑seater vehicles can carry small luggage in the rear compartment.

In addition, 20 Deepal S07 cars will be added to the fleet. These larger vehicles will be used for airport transfers and long‑distance trips, with seating for four passengers and cargo space in both the front and rear.

The Taxi Line initially announced the recruitment of 407 drivers last November, 285 full‑time and 122 part‑time. A walk‑in interview was held in January, and the service later recruited an additional 107 drivers through working interviews. Drivers were trained in two batches by MTCC.

The government says the Taxi Line will operate 100 percent electric vehicles, offering a 24‑hour service through a dedicated mobile application that allows customers to track nearby taxis in real time.

MTCC has also launched a dedicated hotline, 1655, to assist customers with travel support, app usage, and emergencies.
