Maldives welcomes close to 16,000 visitors on 10 cruise liners

The Maldives has welcomed nearly 16,000 people who have visited the country on ten cruise liners so far this year.

According to information released by Maldives Immigration, the Maldives has welcomed 15,958 people who have arrived on ten cruise liners so far this year.

This includes over 900 people who arrived on Saturday from Mumbai on MS Sirena.

Arrivals on cruise liners:

  • January 12: 970 arrivals
  • January 23: 1,037 arrivals
  • February 7: 165 arrivals
  • February 14: 3,904 arrivals
  • February 16: 2,553 arrivals
  • February 19: 1,037 arrivals
  • March 4: 2,736 arrivals
  • March 12: 1,210 arrivals
  • March 13: 1,348 arrivals
  • March 14: 998 arrivals

The government is working on developing three designated jetties across the Maldives to boost arrivals on cruise liners.

The Maldives has welcomed over 540,000 tourist arrivals so far this year. While this is higher than the arrivals during the same period last year, statistics show a sharp 23.6 percent fall in arrivals since the closure of airspaces in the Middle East due to the war on Iran.
