A separate category has been introduced for people with disabilities to apply for flats under the government’s family housing scheme.
The government has announced that 7,900 flats will be allocated in the Greater Male' area, of which 100 flats are reserved specifically for people with disabilities.
The Housing Ministry has now created a dedicated application category for this group. Application forms, eligibility criteria, point‑scoring guidelines, and instructions on how to apply have been published.
Under this category, individuals with disabilities may apply even if they do not currently reside in Male', provided they are unable to access necessary treatment in their home island or if their family’s financial situation prevents them from living in Male'. Residents of Male' who have received treatment within the past year are also eligible to apply.
Applications for the disability category will open on 24 March and will close on 30 April. All submissions must be made through the Housing Portal.
