Ports company contracted for maintenance of ambulances nationwide

The maintenance and repair of ambulances and other vehicles operated by health facilities across the Maldives were officially handed over to Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) on Monday.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) formalizing the arrangement was signed on Monday.

In a post on X, MPL stated that the company will be responsible for the servicing and repair of ambulances stationed at health centers and hospitals throughout the atolls under the agreement.

State Minister Ismail Abdulla signed the MoU on behalf of the Health Ministry while Deputy CEO Mohamed Mueen signed on behalf of MPL.

The development follows the delivery of 56 ambulances to the Health Ministry on January 17. The vehicles were procured through MPL under a contractor financing model.

The ambulances, acquired at a total cost of MVR 65.3 million, were introduced to strengthen healthcare services across islands in the Maldives.

The agreement is expected to enable faster responses to technical issues faced by ambulances in the islands and ensure that maintenance and repair work is carried out consistently and efficiently.
