The Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) Coastguard ship, Huravee, is participating in a naval exercise organized by the Indian Navy in Visakhapatnam, India.
The event, currently underway, is a major international military gathering where naval vessels from participating nations convene for joint exercises. A total of 85 military vessels from 74 countries are taking part, including 66 ships from the Indian Navy and 19 vessels representing various foreign nations.
During the exercise, which is scheduled to conclude next Wednesday, senior military officials from participating countries conducted a fleet review, inspecting the docked vessels.
The senior Maldivian representative at this year’s exercise is Brigadier General Mohamed Saleem, Commandant of the MNDF Coastguard. As part of the official visit, General Saleem held bilateral discussions with delegations from Bangladesh, India, Sri Lanka and Australia. According to the MNDF, the talks focused on enhancing cooperation and strengthening collective efforts to ensure regional maritime safety and security.
The MNDF stated that participation in such a prestigious international event offers a valuable opportunity to enhance the operational capabilities of the Maldivian military and to strengthen diplomatic and military ties with international partners.
