Housing Ministry has announced relaxed requirements for individuals who were previously deemed eligible for apartments under the ‘Hiyaa’ or ‘Veshi Fahi’ schemes but did not receive a unit in reapplying for housing.
In a post on X, the Ministry stated that applicants in this group can now submit alternative documents if they no longer have their original eligibility letter. Acceptable proof includes any official record or reference from a relevant authority confirming their inclusion on a past list of approved flat recipients.

The Ministry added that eligibility details appearing on publicly released lists or in official correspondence from that time will also be recognized as valid supporting documents.
Applications under the current administration’s “Emmenah Boahiyaavehikan’ translated as, ‘Housing for All’, initiative are open until 11:59pm. on April 17.
According to the scheme’s criteria, only Malé natives and individuals who have lived in the capital for at least 15 years qualify. The project is set to deliver 7,900 apartment units along with 15,000 plots of land, each measuring 1,250 square feet.
