This Ramadan, the entrance of the Dhiraagu Head Office has been transformed into a canvas of faith and artistry. As soon as one enters the Dhiraagu Head Office, the eyes are drawn to a flowing symphony of Arabic calligraphy. Painted in vivid shades of orange and soothing blue, the mural flows elegantly across the doorway, inviting visitors to pause, admire, and wonder about the creative mind who brought it to life.
The artwork is the creation of young Maldivian calligrapher Hassan Najih, who collaborated with Dhiraagu to craft a design that reflects the spirit of Ramadan while staying true to the company’s brand identity. By working exclusively within Dhiraagu’s colour palette, Najih ensured the mural seamlessly aligns with its corporate identity.
While he has partnered with the company before, Najih explains that this project stood apart. Unlike earlier works that were created spontaneously on-site, this commission required months of preparation. He began conceptualizing the design as early as November, carefully researching and refining his ideas to ensure every detail was intentional.
Though Najih has been practicing calligraphy for five years, working on glass presented new technical challenges. The experience pushed him to adapt and refine his technique, ultimately becoming an important milestone in his artistic journey. He describes the project as both demanding and deeply rewarding.
“[I] have learned many things through this project, like what to do when painting on glass and things which [I] can improve on,” he said.

Beyond personal achievement, Najih said he values the broader impact of such collaborations. He expressed appreciation for corporations that create meaningful platforms for young artists, noting that these opportunities play a vital role in nurturing local creative talent.
According to Nashaya Naeem, Assistant Manager of PR and Sponsorship at Dhiraagu, Najih’s mural will serve as the main visual feature across the Head Office and throughout the company’s Ramadan branding. She explained that bringing him on board this year reflects a fresh approach, while also highlighting the remarkable creative talent emerging from the Maldives.
This year, Dhiraagu’s Ramadan presence stands out not only for its distinctive design, but also for the story behind it: a collaboration that blends corporate identity, cultural expression, and the evolving journey of a young Maldivian artist.
