In preparation of Ramadan, Maldives Zakat House, on Sunday, has introduced Fitr Portal, an online portal to facilitate the collection of Fitr Zakat in cash to accommodate Zakat payers who are not accustomed to online payment.
According to Zakat House, the Fitr Portal has been introduced to strengthen and standardize the process of accepting Fitr Zakat cash payments through local councils and the Zakat House.
The portal will allow the Zakat House to monitor cash collections in real time, providing accurate daily totals of Fitr Zakat received through both online and cash channels.
With consolidated real-time data, the Zakat House can ensure timely and fair distribution of Fitr Zakat to eligible beneficiaries across the islands at the end of Ramadan, in accordance with Shari’ah.
Zakat House underscored that the launch reflects the its ongoing efforts to improve accessibility, transparency, and efficiency in Zakat administration nationwide.
Online payment for Fitr Zakat was introduced during the COVID-19 pandemic. In this regard, Fitr Zakat can be paid online through Ooredoo Maldives’ m-Faisaa, Dhiraagu’s Dhiraagu Pay, and FahiPay during Ramadan.
