Former Broadcasting Commission member and renowned film producer Mohamed Abdulla (Muhamma) is recovering, a source close to him confirmed on Saturday evening.

He suffered a heart attack last Thursday evening and was admitted to the National Cardiac Centre at IGMH.

A source told Sun that his condition is improving and he is now stable.

“Now he has the tube inserted and is in good condition,” the source said.

Muhamma last served as a member of the Maldives Broadcasting Commission, which was dissolved in September following the passage of the new Media Bill.

He first entered politics through the Jumhooree Party (JDP), later joining the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) and the Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM). He is currently a member of the ruling People’s National Congress (PNC). Muhamma also served as a Member of Parliament for Ihavandhoo constituency from 2014 to 2019.

Beyond politics, Muhamma is a household name in the Maldivian film industry. He has acted in numerous short films and dramas, produced several successful movies, and won multiple awards for his comedic and dramatic performances. His character “Muhamma” in the Dheke Dhekeves short film series remains one of the most iconic roles in local cinema.
