Four people have been arrested from a spa in the Maldivian capital, Male’ City, on suspicion of engaging in prostitution.
The Police, on Wednesday, said the four suspects were arrested from ‘Peace Salon and Spa’, located on the third floor of H. Arihiya.
The Police detailed that the suspects were arrested during an operation carried out on Monday, in a case related to soliciting money in exchange for sexual acts and involvement in prostitution.
The authority identified the suspects a Maldivian man, Mohamed Samaam Rasheed, 28, Riveli, GA. Villingili and three Thai women: Junpen Kunbonphitak, 38, Patcharidha Bannabodi, 24, and Supavadee Jomtarak, 21.
According to the Police, the Maldivian man has been remanded in custody for five days while the three Thai women have been remanded in custody for 30 days.
The case is under further investigation by the Police.
Information disclosed by the Police shows that most suspects arrested in prostitution cases involve foreign women.
