Auditor General’s Office has said that the expenditures of the Prosecutor General’s Office for the year 2012 were in line with the Public Finance Act and Public Finance Regulation.
The Prosecutor General’s Office (PG) audit report released by the Auditor General’s Offices yesterday stated that the expenses were maintained according the budget granted by the parliament for the year 2012.
“It is the view of this office that overall, the Prosecutor General’s Office has kept their expenses, for the year 2012, in accordance to the purposes of the budget awarded, to the Prosecutor General’s Office for the same year. To the objectives and amounts stipulated in the budget, according to the Public Finance Act and Public Finance Regulation…” the Auditor General stated in the PG’s audit report.
The financial statement, which was made public along with the PG audit report stated that the office was awarded a total amount of MVR 24.4 million from the state budget.
While the office has earned MVR 43,000 as profit, it has disbursed an amount of MVR 16.5 million on employee’s salaries, which showed to be the largest expense for the office.
