Maldives crowned ‘Best Beach Destination’ at World Tourism Awards 2025

Maldives has been crowned ‘Best Beach Destination’ at the World Tourism Awards 2025.

The award was accepted by Special Envoy of the President, former president Dr. Mohamed Waheed Hassan Manik, in President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s place, during the award function held at Brussels, Belgium on Tuesday. The award ceremony is held as the culminating event of the Global Tourism Forum Annual Meeting 2025.

In his remarks, Waheed conveyed the President’s gratitude for the international recognition of Maldives’ pristine white sand beaches, clear waters and marine life.

The President’s Office emphasized that the latest accolade strengthens Maldives’ position as one of the world’s most admired destinations and recognizes its dedication to preserving its coastal environment.

The Global Tourism Forum Annual Meeting, held under the theme “Redefining Tourism in a Changing World” this year, unites global tourism leaders, policymakers, and industry stakeholders to shape the future of the sector through innovation and collaborative efforts.
