Boat in Thilafushi boatyard burns down in fire

A boat kept at the boatyard in K. Thilafushi burned down in a fire at dawn.

Maldives National Defense Force reports the incident took place at approximately 4:30 am, this Sunday.

Officers from the firehouse in Thilafushi responded to reports of the fire and were able to put out the fire at approximately 6:30 am.

The authority reports that no one was injured in the incident, but that the fire caused extensive damage to the fiber boat.

MNDF reports the fire originated from the diesel tank of the boat.

The cause of the fire is not clear at this point and is under investigation.
