Dr. Shameem: Changes will be made to Civil Service regulations

President of the Civil Service Commission (CSC), Dr. Ali Shameem has said that amendments would be made to the CSC regulations this year.

Speaking at the inauguration of the Academic Year at the Civil Service Training Institute today, Dr. Shameem said that the discipline of Civil Servants receives a lot of criticism from the people and the actions of few is soiling the image of CSC.

He said that all the employees at CSC is working to be the best civil service provider in the SAARC region.

Highlighting that there is a civil servant to every 18 citizens, Dr. Shameem said that a feedback from the public is needed regarding the service. And so, a survey is set to be made this year to get the public opinion.

Dr. Ali Shameem said that as the CSC is working to bring amendments to the managing and service regulations, they are currently working to do an audit of the Human Resource departments at the government ministries.

He said that it has been some time since the administrative staff has not gotten a raise in salary and benefits and so the CSC is discussing with the government to find a solution.

And so the salary and allowances procedure by the Pay Commission is being reviewed to find which allowances and raises can be given and how to give the same raises to the employees of other departments.

The President of the CSC said that over 5,000 employees have completed the short courses at the Institute and over 400 employees have completed the long courses at the Civil Service Training Institute since 2009.

And he advised the students of this year’s courses not to miss a single day of class.
