The Housing Minister said more barges were brought in for the project yesterday.
As more barges arrived today, the construction of the bridge is rapidly progressing. And so a large portion of the platforms of the bridge has now been completed.
A number of materials were brought in in a large shipment in a previous occasion including loaders, excavators, dump trucks, welding machines and concrete mixers.
While the construction of the China-Maldives Friendship Bridge is well underway, the 1.39 kilometer bridge is contracted to be completed in 30 months. And so the Housing Ministry estimates the completion of the bridge in 2018.
