Expat severely burned in fire on an FSM boat

An expatriate worker has been severely burned in a fire on board an oil tanker boat of Fuel Supplies Maldives (FSM).

The Head of Logistics and Operations at FSM, Hassan Zareer told Sun Media that an expatriate from India working on the repairs of their oil tanker “Barujoara” docked at Malé City was injured in the fire that took place around 2:30 p.m. today.

The man is being treated at Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital. The man sustained 15 percent burns including his hands and face but is not in serious condition according to Zareer.

He said that the man was using a gas cutter on the deck of the tanker when the incident occurred. And is believed that the incident took place when some sort of gas was created in the empty oil tanker.

There has been no word from the hospital since the Media Official of IGMH is not answering calls.
