Commonwealth Deputy Secretary-General meets Dhunya

Commonwealth Deputy Secretary-General Dr. Josephine Ojiambo, who is on a visit to Maldives, met with Maldivian Foreign Minister Dhunya Maumoon on Saturday.

Ojiambo called upon Dhunya on Saurday afternoon, in a meeting held at Foreign Ministry.

Dhunya welcomed Ojiambo to Maldives, and discussed the relationship the country had with Commonwealth.

According to Foreign Ministry, Dhunya also briefed Ojiambo regarding the latest work being carried out by government, including President Abdulla Yameen’s National Master Plan for Strengthening Governance in Maldives.

Meanwhile, Ojiambo, during her meeting with Dhunya noted that Commonwealth was very keen on working with Maldivian government to strengthen the country’s fledgling democratic system.

The meeting was also attended by Deputy Foreign Minister Fathimath Inaya and Senior Desk Officer for Foreign Ministry, Leesha Mohamed.

Ojiambo, who is on an official visit to Maldives, is scheduled to meet other top government officials during her stay.
