Convicted former Defense Minister Colonel (Retire) Mohamed Nazim’s family has said that he will return back to the country after he is done with his medical treatment.
Nazim’s brother, former Managing Director of State Trading Organization (STO) told “Sun” on Saturday that Nazim did not want to stay abroad.
Azim said that his brother left for Singapore because the necessary medical treatment for his condition was not available in Maldives. And that the treatment was not over yet.
“Colonel Nazim will return back to country as soon as his medical treatment is over. What will happen if he comes back before his medical treatment is over? He went because it’s not treatable in Maldives,” said Azim.
He said that they had not yet received any response from Maldives Correctional Service regarding their request for an extension to number of days allowed out of prison for Nazim’s treatment abroad.
Correctional Service, last week, shortened the number of days allowed for Nazim’s treatment and asked that he come back. They said that the order came from Home Ministry.
April 9 is the day Nazim has been told to come back to the country.
Nazim is serving an 11-year prison sentence over a pistol and three bullets, which police testified was confiscated from his apartment during a raid.
