Campaign on reducing crime begins in Thulusdhoo

The first program under the ‘Emmen Ekugai’ crime reduction campaign started by the police this year, the ‘Be Ready’ camp, is under way in Thulusdhoo.

The camp was officially launched at a ceremony held at K. Atoll Education Centre this morning, by Head of Maldives Police Service Crime Prevention Unit, Sub-Inspector of Police Fathimath Nashwa and Principal of K. Atoll Education Centre Abdullah Rasheed.

The camp is conducted jointly by NGO Hand in Hand, MNDF and Maldives Police Service Public Affairs Department, and the focus of the session held this morning was on educating students on ‘living values’.

The session also included providing information on general social standards, responsibilities and protection stipulated in the law, and land transport regulations. A fire drill was also conducted at the camp this morning.

A pre-meeting was held last night with the members of Thulusdhoo Island Council, senior staff of the school, businessmen and senior officials of NGOs in Thulusdhoo, to share information prior to the commencement of the camp.
