Police release video in search of people who

The police have released a video in search of a group that are suspected of using bottles to attack the police during the ongoing series of protests by Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP).

The video first shows a protester throwing a barricade in front of Naadhee on Sosun Magu. Another person is seen with a stone in his hand, while another person is seen throwing yet another barricade. The police have marked the wanted people in the video with circles.

A police media official said today that the first four people seen in the video have been wanted by the police since the protest held by MDP on 18 February, and that the woman and the man seen later in the video are wanted in relation to the protest on 20 February.

Police said that due protection will be provided to people who share information on the suspects with the police. They also thanked the public for their support in such matters.

The statement by the police says, “Thus, anyone who has information on the five people is requested to contact Maldives Police Criminal Investigation Department at 9631696 or Maldives Police Hotline at 3322111 as soon as possible. Protection will be provided to people who share information on the six people with the police.”
