Missing person found dead

The man, who went missing after he fell overboard from a speedboat in an accident this morning where the speedboat collided with an oil barge, has been found dead.

A Police Media Official said that Dhaaood Mohamed, 29, of Zeyvaru, Hdh. Kulhudhuffushi, was found dead at the scene of the accident, near Reethi Rah Resort.

Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) said that three people were on board the oil barge at the time of the accident, and none of them were injured.

The police said the speedboat was carrying nine people at the time of the collision, at around 8:45 am.

Seven people were injured in the accident, and those who suffered serious injuries have been treated at ADK hospital.

The speedboat was carrying staff of Reethi Rah Resort to Male’.

MNDF said that the accident occured when the speedboat ran into an oil barge near Aarah.
