Nine soldiers and policemen injured during last night's protests

Police have said that 9 policemen and soldiers were injured during last night’s protests staged by MDP.

Police Media Official said that one policeman sustained injuries from a lead-solder ball, but said that most of the policemen were treated for injuries sustained from stones thrown by the protesters.

A police officer dressed in plain clothes was attacked by a group of people last night in Lily Magu. The incident happened near Ameeniyya School where the group also stole the officer’s wallet. Police said that the officer received numerous injuries and said that he was taken to the Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) for treatment.

A soldier on duty near Hilaaleege also sustained head injuries in three different places last night. He too was taken to IGMH for treatment. MNDF said that his injuries were caused by object thrown by protesters.

Protesters also vandalized a police vehicle last night.
