Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) primary election candidate Abdullah Yameen has said that the focus of the government if he gets elected as president, would be on strengthening the economy.
Yameen said this while addressing the people of Mahchangolhi district tonight.
“We believe that the most important to do now is to ensure satisfaction for people. We have to work towards increasing people’s wealth. If the state does not have wealth, the state expenditures would constantly increase with each passing day,” he said.
He said that it is necessary to get the economy on the right track in order to stop political and other forms of unrest, and that peace cannot be restored otherwise. He said that his government would also prioritise issues related to youth and develop sports and other similar sectors.
Yameen highlighted in his speech some of his services to Mahchangolhi district. He also said that tonight marks the beginning of his meetings with people of different districts, and that opinions of the people of different districts will be collected to prepare a manifesto.
