Former president Mohamed Nasheed has gone to the Indian High Commission. Reports say that he is currently inside the High Commission building. A large number of Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) supporters have gathered near the area.
Nasheed’s entrance to the Indian High Commission comes at a time when the Hulhumale’ Court has issued an arrest order for Nasheed to be brought to court, after he failed to attend the last scheduled hearing. State has taken charges against Nasheed for the illegal detention of the Criminal Court judge Abdulla Mohamed.

Hissan Hussain, a member of president Nasheed’s legal team said that High Court has acknowledged the submission of the appeal of the order issued by the Hulhumale’ Court to arrest Nasheed to present him to court. Hisaan also said that they have asked for a temporary court order to delay Nasheed’s arrest until the matter of the arrest order has been decided.

13:49 – Police have said that a man has suffered a head injury during an accident near Dhurumavantha School. They said that the accident happened when the man skidded off the road while travelling against the one way street between Dharumavantha School and Trader’s Hotel.

15:24 - First Attorney General in Nasheed’s government Fathimath Dhiyana Saeed has said that according Article 22 of the Vienna Convention, to which Maldives is party to, while Nasheed has sought refuge inside the Indian High Commission, the Maldives security forces cannot enter the Indian High Commission without the permission of the head of the High Commission, D. M. Mulay.

The appeal hearing scheduled for 3:00 pm today has been cancelled because the summon chit for the hearing could not be handed to Nasheed.

In the court case taken up by the state against former president Nasheed, former Commissioner of Police Ahmed Faseeh and current Chief of Defence Force Major General Ahmed Shiyam have been summoned to the court as witnesses presented by the prosecution.
16:17 – Police have said that the reason they could not execute the order by the Hulhumale’ Court to produce former president Mohamed Nasheed for the hearing today was because Nasheed has gone into the premises of Indian High Commission.
