With regard to the issue of the man still missing from a yacht anchored between Male’ and Vilimale’, Maldives Customs Service has handed over the German yacht and the its survivor over to the care of the police.
Superintendent of Customs Ahmed Niyaz told Sun today that the yacht had entered the Maldives according laws and regulations and that the yacht has been handed over to the police as they are still carrying out the search for the missing person.
“The yacht was being conducted according to Maldivian regulations. As a person has fallen overboard, and because the police are still conducting the search for the person, and because the matter is a criminal issue, the man and the yacht were handed over the police on that day itself,” said Niyaz.
Police Media Official said today that they have still not found the missing person and that search efforts are still underway.
Police said that the person they are currently searching for is the first person that was reported to be missing. They said that the person currently in their care is the survivor, who was taken to the hospital after he was found drifting in the ocean. He jumped off in search for the first person that went missing.
