State provides attorney for Humaam

State has provided a defence attorney for Hussain Humaam H. Lobby accused for the murder of parliament member Dr. Afrasheem Ali.

Sun has come to know that the Attorney General’s Office has informed the Criminal Court of the appointment of a lawyer for Humaam's defence. Deputy Attorney General Aishath Bisham however said that the matter has not yet been confirmed.

Humaam has denied the intentional murder charge set against by the state.

The state has stated that Humaam is being charged for; going to the residence of Dr. Afrasheem Ali H. Funvilu between 11:30 and 2am on the 1st of October 2012, attacking Dr. Afrasheem with a sharp object, consequently killing him.

Police have said that the investigations show Ali Shaan H. Hicost assisted Humaam in the murder and that a minor under 18 years of age stood watch near the scene where the murder took place. Prosecutor General’s Office is currently reviewing the cases of the two other people involved.
