President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu on Wednesday has visited the University of Tartu in Tartu, Estonia.
Upon arrival, the president was warmly welcomed by the university’s Rector, Professor Toomas Asser. President Muizzu, accompanied by the Professor Asser, toured the university following which he signed the University’s Visitors’ Book.
The University of Tartu is one of Northern Europe’s oldest and most prestigious academic institutions. This public research university is ranked among the top one percent globally in research. Moreover, the university is known for its excellence in genomics, computer science and material sciences.
During President Muizzu’s visit to the university, he inquired about the potential areas of collaboration with the university, including education, research, and training opportunities for Maldivian students, educators, and professionals.
Besides this, the discussions between President Muizzu and the university’s Rector focused on exploring avenues of cooperation to utilize the university’s research potential to enhance public services and digital infrastructure in the Maldives.
