Maldives welcomes over 200k tourists in December 2024

According to Maldives Immigration, the country welcomed more than 200,000 tourists in December 2024.

Statistics publicized from the authority reveals that Maldives welcomed a total of 208,980 tourists in December alone; which is an increase of 14,289 tourists from December 2023.

The daily arrival average reported in December last year stood at 6,741 and recorded a single-day arrival of 9,440 during the review month while the lowest single-day arrival was 4,908. The total arrival last month showed a 7.3 percent increase.

From the top tourist markets, Italy led the pack in December with 21,153 arrivals, while the second strongest market in the month was UK with 20,459 arrivals. Russia, which has maintained the second rank overall, was ranked third in December exclusively with 20,303 arrivals.

India, which was in sixth spot in annual terms, was ranked fourth in December with 16,749 arrivals and Germany was ranked fifth with 14,172 arrivals.

Maldives welcomed an annual total of 2,046,579, surpassing the annual arrival target of the government by 46,579 tourists.

The government is committed towards improving the arrival figures and subsequently the duration of their stay in the Maldives.
