Met forecasts bad weather for new year

Maldives Metrological Service (Met Office) has forecasted bad weather for the new year.

In this regard, the weather forecasting body said bad weather is expected at northern and central Maldivian atolls for the next three days starting today.

Although southern atolls are expected to see scattered showers, thunderstorms are mainly expected in northern and central atolls, added Met Office.

Maldives experienced severe weather conditions earlier this month as a result of which homes in both Male’ and atolls were damaged in flooding.

Notably, many people are expected to travel during the prevailing days as it is the school holidays.

As such, Met Office has advised seafarers to take precautions and pay attention to weather alerts issued by the authority during spells of bad weather.
