Commissioner of Police Abdulla Riyaz has said that a fake type of the drug LSD is currently being sold in Maldives, and that consumption of the drug causes the heart to stop beating.
Soon after the media started reporting the news that a young man was found dead in Adu Park early this morning, Police Commissioner made a tweet saying that police have received reports that a fake type of LSD is in circulation, and that LSD is a very dangerous drug which could stop a person’s heart, and that some drug users are currently using the drug.
“LSD is a very dangerous drug. It could stop your heart! Reports received that fake LSD is supplied & that some drug users are on it,” the commissioner’s tweet said.
The commissioner however failed to answer the calls when he was tried to reach to clarify how fast the drug is being circulated, and steps taken by the police with regard to its circulation.
While Commissioner Riyaz has made comments of a dangerous drug is being circulated, a young man of 21 years was discovered dead in Adu Park early this morning. Another 19 year old man was found dead on a street in Hulhumale’ the night before. Parents of the 19 year old have said that he died because his heart gave out. Police have earlier said that the man died of a drug overdose.
