Maldives welcomes over 1.7 million tourists so far

The Maldives has welcomed over 1.7 million travelers so far in 2024, which is a 9.5 percent increment from the corresponding period last year.

According to the Ministry of Tourism's daily arrival update for November 12th - with arrivals counted as of November 11th - the Maldives has welcomed a total of 1,728,045 tourists.

In the same period last year, Maldives had welcomed 1,577,890 tourists.

The daily arrival average in annual terms is 5,468 while the average duration of stay in annual terms is 7.7 days.

As for top source markets, China is maintaining top rank with over 240,000 arrivals while Russia has been holding on to second rank; currently with over 193,000 arrivals.

So far in November, the highest single-day arrival was recorded on November 3rd with 6,828 arrivals while the lowest single-day arrival was recorded the following day, with 5,076 arrivals.

The Maldives government had earlier announced an annual arrival target of 2 million; which is likely achievable judging by the current tourist arrival momentum.
