Maldives Food and Drug Authority (MFDA) has identified ‘Hinnavaru Athujehi, Bright View’ as an illegally operated business.

The brand’s Maldivian snack product is sold across various shops.

In a statement on Wednesday, MDFA said the producer of ‘Hinnavaru Athujehi, Bright View’ was not an individual registered with the Authority as a home-based food producer for a source of income in accordance with the relevant policies.

Henceforth, the Authority stressed that the registry number specified on the label was not issued under the policy.

MDFA noted that the register of home-based food producers is accessible to the public via the Authority’s website, ‘Dhirithi’ portal, and the Health Ministry’s website.

They urged the public to exercise utmost caution while buying food products.

MFDA has also requested to report any party found in violation of the regulations by contacting them via 7603204 or 3014361.

The authority had opened registrations for home-based food producers as a source of income last month.

Prior to this, the registry was maintained by the Health Protection Agency (HPA). The switch to MFDA came with the ratification of the new Food Safety Act which saw the re-establishment of MFDA, with increased powers.
