Police arrest group that tried to enter Usfasgandu

The police have arrested a group that tried to enter Usfasgandu area today.

Police Media Official Hassan Haneef said that a group of supporters of Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) attempted to enter Usfasgandu this evening by obstructing the police and breaking through the police line.

He said that fifteen people including two women have been arrested following this incident.

Police have not yet disclosed any information regarding the people who were arrested.

Usfasgandu is presently under the supervision of the police following a High Court order.

The High Court order stated that Usfasgandu should be kept under police supervision until a decision is made on the case appealed by Male’ City Council to High Court, regarding the Civil Court ruling that stated that Usfasgandu should be handed over to Housing Ministry.
