Twenty seven employees of Alimatha Resort dismissed

Twenty seven employees of V. Alimatha Aquatic Resort have been dismissed today following protests that resulted from disputes between resort employees and management.

Manager of Alimatha Resort Abdullah Nashiz told Sun Online in an interview that the employees were dismissed last night following their refusal to discuss the issues in order to arrive at a solution.

“When the protests calling for increase in salaries and service charge began, we suggested that discussions be held between the two parties. We said that after discussions, we would solve the problems to the best of our abilities. But the employees did not want to discuss the matter,” he said.

Nashiz said that resort operations had come to a halt as a result of the protests, and that the employees refused to return to work when notified by the management. He cited this as the reason for their dismissal.

He said that three employees were also dismissed last week for negligence in their work.
