SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — A federal judge is still mulling a request by Samsung Electronics Inc. to significantly reduce a $1.05 billion damage award in a lawsuit won by Apple Inc.
U.S. District Court Judge Lucy Koh issued a series of orders Tuesday refusing demands by both companies for a new trial and rejecting a request by Apple to triple the award.
Koh didn't address Samsung's request to reduce the award by as much $600 million.
In a footnote in one of the orders, Koh said she would decide that issue separately but didn't give a time frame.
A San Jose jury awarded Apple the damages in August after finding Samsung infringed six Apple patents.
Legal experts and analysts were divided over whether Koh would significantly reduce the award.
