Man caught with large quantities of drugs sentenced to lifetime imprisonment

The Criminal Court has sentenced a man to lifetime imprisonment for possession with intent to sell of large quantities of drugs.

The convict is Hussain Sabah of Mushthareege, R. Maduvvari.

The court ruling says that Sabah and Mohamed Aswad of Chaman, Gdh. Nadella, were stopped by the police while they were riding a motorbike along Maaveyo Magu at around 12:30am on the night of 22 June 2011, and that the police used a key found in Aswad’s pocket to check an office run by the two individuals. Checks conducted on the office revealed a box containing large quantities of various types of drugs.

The ruling says that the fingerprint found on a rubber packet containing drugs found in the box, matched the fingerprint of Sabah’s left hand middle finger.

Sabah was convicted of two crimes. He was sentenced to lifetime imprisonment for possession of drugs with intent to sell, and ten years’ imprisonment for possession of illicit medical drugs with intent to sell.

The court also decided that not enough evidence existed to prove the case against Aswad.
