High Court orders to keep Usfasgandu under police supervision

The High Court has issued an order to keep Usfasgandu under police supervision until the court makes a decision on the case appealed by Male’ City Council with regard to Usfasgandu. Usfasgandu is leased to MDP to hold political activities.

This order comes at a time when the police have given MDP a deadline of 24 hours to vacate Usfasgandu, which will be up at 1am tonight.

The High Court said in its order that Usfasgandu should not be leased to or used by any group until the court makes a decision on the case. The court has ordered to police to keep the area under its supervision to ensure that it is not used by any group.

The police placed a notice on MDP’s noticeboard last night, notifying them to vacate Usfasgandu. The police have said that they will not be responsible for any damage caused to items that remain in Usfasgandu in the process of removing them from the area after 1am tonight.
