Dhiraagu Maldives Road Race 2024 registrations open now

Dhiraagu Maldives Road Race (DMRR) 2024 is now open for registrations.

Dhiraagu announced registration of the 2024 DMRR edition for the 5k, 10k, and half marathon categories are now open.

At Wednesday's press conference, Dhiraagu also announced the inclusion of a brand-new Office/Resort category for this year's event.

Interested participants can register via www.dmrr.mv, added Dhiraagu. Registrations, currently open, will be closed once the limit of 4,000 participants is reached.

The DMRR confers attractive cash prizes for winners of different categories ever year, and has announced a prize pool of MVR 256,000 for this year's winners as well.

Speaking about the largest and most anticipated run in the Maldives, Mohamed Mirshan Hassan, Director, Brand and Marketing Communications at Dhiraagu said, "Dhiraagu Maldives Road Race is the largest running event held in the Maldives, focused towards promoting a healthy lifestyle and building a culture of competitive running and mass participation runs."

With the inclusion of a brand-new category for this year's edition, Mirshan said, this was aimed to "give people working different resorts and offices the opportunity to participate as a team and represent their organization at a competitive level."

This year also marks the run's 15th edition, and is scheduled to be held on October 25, 2024 at Central Park, Hulhumale'.

DMRR is the first and only international run held in the Maldives, listed in the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS) World Running calendar with a World Athletics-certified race route.

The event brings together runners from all over the world with participants from 27 countries running last year as well.

Dhiraagu also added that this year's DMRR is dedicated towards the social cause of child protection much like previous editions, which is one of the key focus areas of the company's corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme.

The company will award five grants of total MVR 200,000 amongs the top five endorsed NGOS nominated by participants at the time of registration to hel kick-start their planned activities.

Additionally, Dhiraagu will donate MVR 100 from each participant registration and all proceeds from special bib number sales in equal shares to the endorsed partner NGOs.

In 2023, Dhiraagu awarded a total of MVR 635,000 amongs all endorsed partner NGOs of DMRR.
