Parliament’s Public Accounts Committee has summoned central bank, Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA)’s Governor Ali Hashim, Auditor General Hussain Niyaz and Commissioner of Taxation Hassan Zareer.

Sun has learned that all three officials were summoned to the Committee to make inquiries regarding the Maldives’ current financial state.

They have been summoned to the convening of the Committee scheduled for 11:00am on Monday.

Governor Hashim has been summoned to the Committee shortly after the Committee decided to recommend his dismissal to President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.

The motion was put forth by Deputy Speaker, Dhiggaru MP Ahmed Nazim to the Public Accounts Committee on Monday. In the motion, he accused Hashim of failure to perform his duties as the head of the country’s central bank.
