This year's Worldchefs Asia Presidents Congress is being held at Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.

Maldives is represented at the congress, that kicked off on Sunday, by the President of 'Chefs Guild Maldives' Mariyam Noordeen, along with the guild's executive committee member and WACS Continental Judge Mariyam Shiuna.

Besides the Maldives and host country Mongolia, Cambodia, China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Nepal, Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam are taking part in the event.

Additional to these countries, WACS is taking part in the congress as well, including its President Thomas Gugler.

At the five-day congress, each country will present its "Country Report". The Maldives Country Report will be presented by Mariyam Noordeen.

Besides presenting the country reports, the parties to this event will be discussing about the upcoming "Chefs Congress 2024" in Singapore - the biggest gathering of international chefs and culinary experts.

Additionally, the participants will discuss on various other areas including prospecture opportunities in the field of culinary and gastronomy in the Asian region, corporate social responsibility (CSR) directives, education and training opportunities for aspiring talents.

"We remain steadfast in advocating to provide appropriate learning and training opportunities for Maldivian chefs, as they are now making a name for themselves in the international arena as well," Mariyam Noordeen said.

The Chefs Guild Maldives established in 2016 advocates for the improvement, education, training and rights of local chefs.
