Kashima Shakir appointed chairperson of National Awards Committee

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, on Sunday, has appointed Uz. ‘Kashima’ Ahmed Shakir as the chairperson of the National Awards Committee. 

Kashima Shakir was appointed to the post following the resignation of Anisa Ahmed, recipient of the Order of the Distinguished Rule of Izzuddin (O.D.R.I.), who previously held the post, over health-related reasons.

As per the President’s Office, President Muizzu, in a letter to Anisa, accepted her resignation and expressed gratitude for her valuable service with honesty and integrity over a long tenure as the chairperson of the National Awards Committee.

On Sunday, President Muizzu also appointed Badhuru Naseer, the recipient of the Order of the Dignified Rule of Dhiyamigili Dynasty (O.D.R.D.D.) as a member of the National Awards Committee to fill the vacant seat left by the resignation of Ibrahim Ismail Ali, the recipient of the Order of the Dignified Rule of the Muleege Dynasty (O.D.R.M.D.) who was appointed Minister of State for Social and Family Development on December 14th.

Kashima Shakir has significantly contributed to the field of Dhivehi literature and is a recipient of the national award in 1985.
