The Police have found a machete of about three feet long, following the investigations into the brutal murder of Ali Hassan (Ayyube) of Samandharu, Dh. Kudahuvadhoo.
The machete was found buried on the beach, by detectives working on solving this case. It was located on the beach on the West side of the island, in the “thin ruggan’du” part of the area commonly known as Waseema Thundi.
Late last night, the team of Detectives in Kudahuvadhoo began acting in an extraordinary manner. Their activities were closely monitored by Sun Journalists since they departed to Waseema Thundi. However by the time the Journalists arrived on the scene, the Police had blocked the area. Permission was denied to enter the area as investigations were ongoing.
The Police, accompanied by one of the suspects of the crime, were observed to search and dig a large area on the beach. The digging was undertaken with the assistance of the suspect. He was seen pointing in various directions.
The special operation last night came to an end after 2.00am last night. The area, however, still remains blocked.
The Police went to the Waseema Thundi again in the morning, accompanied by the same suspect. They proceeded to fetch several items from the sea; it is not known what these items are.
The Police were about knee-deep in the sea, and the suspect was observed to point in different directions again. He was observed to cooperate with the Police in the morning as well.
About one and a half hours after the Police left the area, a child and his parent were summoned to the Police Office. A moment later, they were on their way to Waseema Thundi with the child and the parent.
This time around, they started digging the South part of Waseema Thundi. The child was seen to point in various directions, and the machete was found in this area.
