Former Foreign Minister Abdulla Shahid has said that he is confident that the new Foreign Minister Moosa Zameer will take Maldives to new heights internationally, under his leadership.
Shahid said in a tweet today that he had written a welcome letter to Zameer before leaving office.

The letter said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has a long history of 90 years. And that the Foreign Ministry is the highest responsible for the implementation of the foreign policy of the President while protecting the highest interests of the Maldivian State.
Shahid further wrote that he believes Zameer is very capable and experienced for the post of Foreign Minister.
Shahid also said that the current employees of the Foreign MInistry are professional, capable, active and sincere employees who have assisted him in his work over the past five years. And that the progress made in the foreign sector is a result of the team's work.
He wished that Maldives' name would shine more in the outside world under Zameer's tenure.
Dr. Mohamed Muizzu was sworn in as President yesterday evening and his Cabinet Ministers were sworn in at 7:30 pm the same night.
The new government's Foreign Minister Moosa Zameer served as the Tourism Minister from 2015 to 2019 during Former President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayyoom's administration.
He served from 2009 to 2014, the Member of Parliament for Kinbidhoo constituency as well.
Zameer holds a Bachelor's degree in Business Management from the University of Sunderland. He also holds a Masters degree in Business Administration from Cardiff Metropolitan University in the same country.
