President meets former Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir

President Dr Mohamed Waheed Hassan Manik has met with former Prime Minister of Malaysia Dr Mahathir Mohamed today.

The President’s Office said that during the meeting, the president talked about the close bilateral relations between the Maldives and Malaysia, and the current economic challenges and political situation in the Maldives.

The president noted the close relationship kept by Dr Mahathir with Maldives, and invited him to visit the Maldives when convenient. Dr Mahathir talked about the close relations between the two countries, thanked the president, and expressed happiness over the opportunity to meet with the president of Maldives.
